On a hike through Malibu Creek State Park in California, I walked through a tunnel of live oaks, branches crossing overhead, light coming through the leaves in mosaic fragments of jade and gold. I stood there and just felt it. The deep indigo purple of the trunks against that vibrant canopy, the path drawing the eye forward through arching arms of oak.
