I woke at 2:30 in the morning to drive up this mountain and watch the sunrise at 14,000 feet. You may know it as Mount Evans, but in September 2023 it was officially renamed Mount Blue Sky to honor the Cheyenne and Arapaho peoples. The name feels right. It always looked like a blue sky mountain to me. This painting captures the sky coming alive as I climbed.
